Walk Like an Egyptian

Most of you know KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and a Cherry Tree" made popular by Kat a couple of seasons ago on American Idol! She has done a cover of "Walk Like an Egyptian" by the Bengals, and it's actually quite good. Rob and I both have quite fond memories of "Walk Like an Egyptian" - which both include our moms. It always amazes me what power music has in our lives. We spent most of our first New Year's Eve together talking about music and missed most of the Griffins game! We need to sit down and put together a playlist for the hospital. I gave birth to Isaac while listening to Shakira, Jewel, Barenaked Ladies, and when he finally arrived, we listened to "Beautiful Day" by U2. Maybe this time we can throw some Aeternal in - at least it would entertain Isaac! Anyway, enjoy the video, and feel free to strike a pose and get down with your bad Egyptian self!

Life as a pirate

Isaac loves to dress up as Jack Sparrow, as you can plainly see! I was browsing a website that always has really neat knitting projects on it, and I found a link to knitlikeapirate.com - I was sooooo excited to try the Tricorn hat. I, being the analytical perfectionist that I am, took on this project with the intention of finishing it, regardless of how I thought it would turn out. After feeling the heat from my Husband for taking apart his sweater (first of all, the sweater was hideous *analytical perfectionist*, and second, the colors were perfect for the hat...), I sat down and proceeded to knit the hat. It was huge when I finished and I had some hesitation as I threw it into the washer to start the felting process. This is one project that I actually knitted a swatch for, so I did have an idea of what the end result color would be - go me! So, I stood by the washer, impatiently as the hat began to shrink. It took about an hour for me to 'shape' the hat on a bowl and to get the points just right... I kept asking Rob's opinion and I was getting frustrated, because he said that it looked 'just fine... it's just a costume hat' - the nerve! Apparently he forgot that I can be an 'analytical perfectionist' when I am trying to complete a project, which is why there aren't many that are complete! Anyway, the finished project is so amazingly awesome that I have even displayed it on the web for the whole world to see. I am planning on sending a picture to knitlikeapirate.com with a note of thanks for the pattern - free patterns rock! Enjoy the pictures, we took a video too, but I need to play around with the computer to see which program I can use for editing, and I can't finish it before 5pm and I know that my mom is anxiously awaiting an updated post!

The hardest thing I have ever done

Tonight was the first night that I gave in to a craving - mmmm Culvers! Rob is playing in the Heavyweight Championship and Isaac is having a sleepover at Nana's! I needed a bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, and chocolate malt in the worst way. So, freshly showered, in my jammies, hair in a ponytail, orange crocs, Rob's North Face jacket that is waaayy too big (but it is the only jacket that I can zip over my belly), I got in my car and drove to Culvers. After waiting a few minutes for fresh onion rings, I was ready to go! I couldn't resist the temptation to chomp on a ring, so I pulled it from the bag and it melted in my mouth... Oh My Goodness! I could hardly drive from Culvers back to Sparta without pulling over and inhaling my meal! I got home, dropped my purse and jacket and proceeded to consume my meal. It probably took me all of 5 minutes to finish it off. I still have some of the malt left, but it won't last much longer! That said and done, I had a dr's appt. today and have gained 28 lbs., 10 1/2 inches in the waist and 5 1/2 in the chest - aye caramba!
So, I am going to take a couple of tums, crush some ice and enjoy the rest of my peace and quiet alone time, and try not to regret the 1,000s of calories I just consumed :o)

Just to give you an idea of how ginormous I actually am right now: 10 weeks vs. 30 weeks!

Sledding fun!

We got all bundled up and ventured out into the cold so that Isaac could experience sledding for the first time - he LOVED it! We are planning on putting him in snowboarding lessons next winter - yay!!! It's a nice excuse for Rob to get out there and stay practiced up :o) I tried last year, but I think that I will have more fun watching from the sidelines!

Making his first snow angelOur goofy snowman with flower accessories (we couldn't find any rocks)
Jumping from the flower gardenHe loves that he can roll around in the snow and not get wet!
Ready set...
GO!!

I am so glad that I captured this picture! Isaac slapped Rob on the back and said, "Dad, this was so much fun!

Misc. Christmas Pictures

I am so terrible about having family members pose for pictures. Usually we are all so 'wrapped' up in what is going on with the kids, we tend to forget altogether. I always regret not having a nice family picture in front of the Christmas tree. You would think that with all of the Christmas trees around, we would remember to do it... I will blame it on Baby Brain this year - next year, I have no excuse! So, here are a few of the "non-action" shots that Isaac sat still for!

Christmas through the eyes of a child

Hope everyone enjoyed their Holidays! This year was the least stressful of all previous years! Our festivities were well spread out and we were able to enjoy time with family instead of time on the road rushing from one place to the next. Rob, Isaac and I celebrated a little early so that we could have time to ourselves - we are so glad that we did! We ended up spending the night at my parent's house on Christmas Eve - I still can't fathom what Christmas would be like without spending it with them. Maybe next year I can wake up without my Mom & Dad... we'll just have to wait and see!

A note from Santa Nana doesn't have a chimney, so Isaac thought that Santa would cut a hole in the ceiling and then fix it with duct tape. So, we put a painter's tape hole in the ceiling and he was ecstatic about it!
Off to sleep... after hearing Santa's sleigh bells come down the road, Isaac jumped into bed and fell fast asleep, as he was fully aware that Santa wouldn't come unless he was sleeping!
On Christmas morning, he was very happy to see that Santa brought him his Shark Ship!

Watch out world, here I come!
